Artist of the Day: Ayatollah (producer)

Ayatollah (Lamont Dorrell) is a hip-hop producer from Queens, New York, with a soulful sound who has provided beats for many of the big names in the genre, perhaps most notably Ms. Fat Booty for Mos Def. He has nine full length instrumental releases, including: Listen, Now Playing, Drum Machine, The Quixotic and the newly released Cocoon (Last.fm, 2010).

Artist of the Day: Omega One (producer)

Omega One's real name is Owen Brozman and he is an underground Hip Hop producer from NY, USA. Omega One is an acclaimed underground producer, who's worked with the likes of Aesop Rock and MF Doom. His style sounds like, laid-back beats with samples and jazzy instrumental flourishes. Omega One doesn't waste time on new gear, nor does he worry about having a more obscure loop than someone else. He just uses an ASR-10 sampler/keyboard and ProTools. His unusual thing in his studio are lots of floppy discs.
